Salex collaborated with Sharma & Partners and Architecture Counsel Inc. to transform an unused area of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College into a modern fitness facility. The gym’s design objectives centered on creating an energizing, productive space that catered to its unique architectural features and multipurpose functionality. To achieve this, the lighting solutions prioritized low-profile, glare-reducing fixtures that could integrate into various ceiling systems and comply with code requirements.

The lighting design featured Senso Leto 11.5 cylinders, which were installed in the main area of the gym including above the cardio machines and turf. These pendants fit seamlessly within the ceiling system, providing a clean and even illumination. The Luminii Bara was used to outline mirrors in the yoga room and weight area, offering functional lighting for precision-focused activities. In the yoga room and reception area, Aera 3 downlights by Lumenwerx delivered high-quality lighting, creating a serene atmosphere for yoga practice and a welcoming ambiance in the reception. For the weight area, Lumenwerx Squero fixtures were chosen for their slim profile, allowing them to fit between the ceiling’s acoustic panels while minimizing glare and delivering targeted lighting. The RIM Multiple Pendant by Lumenwerx added a decorative and functional element to the reception area, contributing to the stylish and welcoming environment. Throughout the gym, Wattstopper Controls provided full dimmability and occupancy-based operation, ensuring energy efficiency and flexible lighting adjustments. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that harmonizes diverse lighting requirements with architectural features. From the vibrant cardio and weight areas to the tranquil yoga room and inviting reception, the lighting solutions brought the gym’s vision to life.
