Salex was proud to provide lighting support for Conestoga College’s new 1 Young campus located in the heart of downtown Kitchener. Designed by NEO Architecture and DFY Studio and engineered by Rombald Engineering, this modern facility supports the college’s continued growth and its commitment to full-time, on-campus education. Lighting played a central role in creating an environment that is both high performing and welcoming, with carefully selected solutions implemented throughout classrooms, corridors, gathering areas, private study booths, and quiet zones.

Locally sourced fixtures were chosen for their efficiency, performance, and their ability to add a residential sensibility to the academic setting. Ubik pendants by Lumenwerx were used in corridors and entrances to guide movement throughout the space. Artemide’s LA LINEA ceiling introduced a playful and fluid visual element that added personality and softness to the interior. Aaline’s Echo Modular Wall Panels were installed in open areas to enhance acoustic comfort and reduce noise, supporting the functionality of shared and collaborative zones. Beam 2 by Axis was used in all classrooms to provide bright and consistent lighting for focused learning. In the corridors, 35 Linear by Zaneen established a clean and continuous visual rhythm. Decorative Kuzco fixtures were also used throughout the space to bring warmth and visual texture.

Together, these elements created a thoughtful and inspiring educational environment that supports student focus, connection, and well-being.
