For their newest and largest location to-date, Denninger’s (a family-owned brand of specialty-food shops across Southern Ontario) sought to create all-new and unrivalled store experience. Spanning more than 23,000 square feet, this latest location features a rebranded bistro and expanded produce sections – all complemented by inviting and innovative lighting, of course.
Working with Studio Intersekt and Hammerschlag & Joffe, Salex implemented a fresh approach to grocery store lighting in order to achieve a unique and personalized feel. Moving away from traditional high bay fixtures, the store was primarily lit with linear Lumenwerx VIA4 fixtures, and is the first grocery store in the GTA to use linear LED as a main source of lighting.
In addition to the linear LED lighting, custom suspended red and white domes from Viso Inc. were used to enhance the main space and provide an intuitive traffic pattern throughout the store, while fixtures from Insight Lighting create a welcoming and bright atmosphere at the entrance. For supplementary and accent lighting, downlights from Elite Lighting and SGI NEON UltraBright was used in select areas. Gooseneck fixtures from LSI Industries were also affixed above to highlight signage.
Towards the back-of-house, Viscor Lighting supplied lighting for key areas, with 2 x 2 LHBR fixtures used for powerful, bright light behind the counter of dispensaries. Additional lighting also included emergency lighting, provided by Beghelli Canada Inc., and a Wattstopper system to control all lighting across the store.
Boasting a unique, boutique-like look, the new store introduces a new lighting – and shopping – experience to the heart of Burlington.
