Salex worked with DFY Studio and Manuel Jordao on the lighting for the new Ontario School Boards’ Insurance Exchange (OSBIE) office. The project focused on creating a functional and visually engaging workplace through a thoughtful lighting approach that supports both daily operations and collaborative spaces.
Lighting selections were tailored to suit the purpose and character of each area within the office. Lumenwerx Aera 3 cylinders and Liteline Luna Pro downlights were used throughout the space to provide clean, consistent ambient lighting.
In the large boardroom, Lumenwerx Ubik linear fixtures were integrated into the ceiling, while Lumenwerx Curvia pendants were selected to mirror the shape of the ceiling, creating a strong visual connection between lighting and architecture.
In the kitchenette area, Artemide Discovery pendants introduce a soft, cloud-like presence that adds warmth and visual interest. A unique coordination challenge was addressed with the Artemide Turn Around system, which was carefully installed around the fireplace. The lighting installation was completed prior to the fireplace installation, requiring precise sequencing to achieve a seamless integrated result.
In the lunch room, Kuzco Bondi pendants were used as a decorative element, adding warmth and personality to the space.
The completed OSBIE office demonstrates how well-coordinated lighting can enhance both form and function. Through close collaboration with the design team and carefully selected fixtures, the new workspace feels cohesive, comfortable, and purpose-built for its users.
