The newly opened Ballroom Bowl Yorkville is an exciting entertainment and social destination in downtown Toronto. Featuring eight bowling lanes—including two VIP lanes for private events—this stylish venue blends the energy of bowling with a sophisticated dining and lounge experience.
McCallum Sather and Mantecon Partners led the vision for the space, bringing in Salex to enhance it with our lighting expertise. The construction team, including XGC Consulting and Build It, played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life and ensuring the project’s success. The selection of lighting products focused on both functionality and performance, ensuring optimal illumination for the lanes while complementing the venue’s modern aesthetic. McCallum Sather’s design for a refined yet dynamic space shaped the decorative and architectural lighting choices, creating an environment that is both visually captivating and functional.
The Axis Beam series and Luminii Clareo series were used in the upper lobby, assisting in lighting the feature panels that greet guests upon entry. Luminii’s Kurba series was incorporated throughout, providing backlighting for cove spaces and being recessed into the millwork around the perimeter, interior walls, and bowling lanes. Contech CY3 cylinders are mounted above all bowling lanes to provide general lane lighting, as well as illumination for corridors and travel path locations. Viso Globo fixtures are suspended over the dining tables along the perimeter, while the Kuzco Supernova multi-pendants are featured in the open dining area. GenLyte EasyLyte downlights ensure a warm and inviting glow throughout the lounge area. Standout lighting elements include sleek pendants and decorative wall sconces, which add warmth and sophistication to the space. These fixtures not only enhance the venue’s classy and energetic feel but also serve as focal points that elevate the overall design. The Ballroom Bowl Yorkville is a true fusion of sport, style, and social engagement, setting a new standard for entertainment venues in the city.
